There’s a special contentment that comes from eating with the seasons
With our modern transportation and global trade systems, we can buy strawberries and sweet corn any day of the year. We have forgotten the skill and ingenuity of cooking with fruits and vegetables as they come into season. At Our Green Acres, we celebrate the changes of the seasons and the special foods that accompany them. By learning again to highlight local ingredients in our diets, we savor our foods as each comes to harvest, enjoy each at the peak of its quality and flavor, and stretch our creativity to use each ingredient to its fullest potential. No need for complicated meals with long prep times either–simple combinations are the best. Bon appetite!
